Parental Review August 2025
Thank you so much Claire. E found your sessions enjoyable and was able to put it all into practice and get the grades he was hoping for. I highly recommend Claire for both English Language and Literature!
This is for students that specifically require AQA 1:1 tuition. It is offered at a premium and is ideal for students who feel more at ease learning in a 1:1 setting. As these slots are usually filled by several students in a group setting, there are very few slots available, so do apply early.
Study doesn’t have to be solitary. Small group tuition offers the perfect balance of expert teaching and peer support. Students learn from each other’s questions while receiving structured guidance tailored to their exam board and texts.
Our masterclasses are structured mini-programmes like lectures that target the most challenging parts of the AQA English Language & Literature exams. These take place throughout the academic year and during the Easter holidays. Designed to give you high-impact insights, strategic approaches, and modelled answers you can build on. Entirely focused on how to ace the exams!
This is tactical, confidence-building final prep for students who want to walk into the exam room knowing exactly what to expect and what to do. I call it ‘the primer’ because it gets students absolutely exam-ready. These sessions are high-focus, low-stress walkthroughs of the exam structure, timing and approaches.
This programme of 4 x 60 minute sessions is designed to give students a head start in the run-up to the new term. It serves as a taster of what is to come for Year 10 students and represents a valuable bit of revision for Year 11 and Years 12-13 resit students. This short programme always takes place Tuesday-Friday of the last week in August every year.
Thank you so much Claire. E found your sessions enjoyable and was able to put it all into practice and get the grades he was hoping for. I highly recommend Claire for both English Language and Literature!
“Professional, experienced, friendly, knowledgeable, supportive, brilliant! English has always been a struggle for my son, who got a low level 3 in the summer so started tutoring with Claire ahead of November resits. Her knowledge of the exam process, student learning and the English syllabus is amazing. She was able to encourage and support my son, who made terrific progress in a short time. He came out of the summer exam shrugged his shoulders and made a grunt. He came out of the November exam saying he has never written so much in an English exam, (and knew how to approach each question correctly.) He was smiling, actually smiling after an English exam! Claire and my son worked together to find the areas he needed to focus on and then worked intensively through the process. He regularly submitted work, which Claire thoroughly and accurately marked, using her many years of experience. This bespoke approach motivated him and gave him confidence. I cannot speak highly enough of Claire, her knowledge and approach has given my son the best chance possible.” Update: ‘W received his November resit results and achieved the Grade 4 he needs to finally pursue the course of his choice. He did this within 2.5 months. I am so relieved and delighted.’ (N.H.)
“I couldn’t recommend Claire Davidson enough. Claire taught me for my GCSEs back in 2000 & 2001. With Claire’s enthusiasm and great teaching style, I went from getting Cs & Bs at the beginning to finally ending up with an A/A* for English language & English literature. Claire made English lessons become interesting, rather than a boring compulsory subject that I thought of it as before entering her class. Claire taught me so many skills for essay writing and analysis that prepared me for not just the rest of my education up to post-graduate Masters level, but life in general. With the company “World Challenge”, Claire took my brother in a team of students to Morocco for a week and a few years later, Claire & I went to Malawi & Zambia for a month with another team. She encouraged and helped motivate us into such life skills and experiences that we would never have achieved through school alone. These skills helped with university and job applications and life in general. I will never forget the time and effort Claire put into us as children and the opportunities she gave us. Claire is the perfect candidate, if you are considering her tutoring services of your child.”

Claire supported my son with his English language paper. Her individualised approach really helped him to feel that he could achieve and his voice was valued. The grade he got for GCSE was his highest grade out of all his subjects. He achieved a 6. Claire made him believe that he could pass. Her detailed feedback and positivity meant that he enjoyed the online sessions and came out of them understanding what he had to do rather than his classroom lessons where he became lost. We highly recommend Claire for supporting students not only academically but in developing their confidence and empowering them to believe they can do it!
Claire is absolute gold dust. She has helped and encouraged two of my children through English GCSE exams. She is inspirational, energetic and absolutely on the money when it comes to the syllabus. I owe her so much. My kids have confidence in their ability now and both did really well in their GCSEs. I cannot recommend Claire more highly!
“Having had the honour of being taught by Claire and to have then later known her as a colleague I can absolutely vouch for her dedication to excellence and passion for the success of students in her care.”
Hi Claire, Sam got his interim school report this week and achieved an ‘outstanding’ in English right across the board for all areas of his work. You are an amazing teacher, Claire. This is an absolute first for Sam in English. He’s improved and more motivated with you involved!
“I could not recommend Claire enough for anyone looking for English tutoring. She tutored me through A-Level English Literature and Creative Writing. Each session Claire tailors it to what you want or need to work on. From learning Othello quotes to comparing novels Claire was able to help my writing and understanding develop. Her enthusiasm and motivation enabled me to continue my passion for English and achieve the grades that I needed for university. She always believed in me, saw the strengths I had and motivated me. If you are looking for a tutor to help with your English, Claire 100% is the person you need.”
Thank you, Claire for all the resources and tips you’ve given so far. All very much appreciated. J & A are loving the sessions. No easy task keeping two 16 year olds engaged for an hour, but you do it well. Huge thanks, Claire!
‘My daughter did the masterclass programme with Claire as a home ed student. To be honest, it was the length and breadth of her preparation for this exam. We’re absolutely delighted as it was so thorough. My daughter got a Grade 7. I’d HIGHLY recommend Claire’s programmes.’
“Claire was without a doubt the best teacher I had throughout my secondary schooling. Her lessons were creative, engaging and thought provoking, instilling in me a passion for literature and creative writing which remains to this day. Claire also mentored me throughout the university application process, going above and beyond to help me write a personal statement which captured my personality as well as my academic profile. It was through this guidance that I was accepted into my first choice university, for which I will be forever grateful. We all have that one teacher at school that we remember for broadening our horizons and supporting us to be the best we can be. For me, Claire was that teacher. She’s nothing short of a total rock star!”
‘I highly recommend Claire. She has been absolutely fantastic with my daughter, getting her through her GCSE in just a year. We had taken our daughter out of school and really struggled to find an English tutor until we found Claire. She immediately built a great rapport and her supportive tutoring was just what M needed to build her confidence and self-belief. Our daughter took her GCSE in 2025 and passed with a Grade 5! This would not have happened without Claire’s enthusiasm, knowledge and skill and we cannot recommend her highly enough.’
