Publication of GCSE Results:

On Thursday 21 August twenty-three of my students waited anxiously for their GCSE results.

I am delighted to report that this year’s tutees romped home with the most amazing results I’ve ever had, and I couldn’t be more delighted for them!

Out of 23 students:

100% = Grade 4 or higher

83% = Grade 5 or higher

57% = Grade 6 or higher

43% = Grade 7 or higher

22% = Grade 8 or higher

5% = Grade 9

National figure for Grade 5 or higher in 2024 = 45%.

Two Best Results:

My two best results came from students that applied for tutoring after their AQA GCSE English mocks. Both students attained a Grade 4 in Language and a 3 in Literature. The first student went from a 4 to a 9 in Language and an 8 in Literature, and the other achieved a Grade 8 in Language and a 6 in Literature. The parents were understandably completely over-the-moon, which is reflected in their reviews: theenglishlab.co.uk/reviews.

How Do You Achieve These Results?

Both students learnt in small, extremely supportive groups of no more than 4, which I consider to be the most effective form of learning for the majority of students.

Surely 1:1 is Better For My Child?

Some parents are understandably nervous about learning in groups and wonder if it can be as effective as 1:1. The answer is a resounding ‘yes’ and it is a lot easier on the pocket. The results above speak for themselves. Please also understand that the groups are very carefully put together with a focus on kindness, respect and being ready to learn.

What If I’d Still Like to Consider 1:1?

However, for those who prefer 1:1 learning and are prepared to commit, that option is absolutely available, at a premium.
